On the bit

Lini is doing fabulous...I have never sat on a horse that is more comfortable to ride. She is starting to really relax and get on the bit and stretch. She is very lovely. I still need to get those pictures up.

She does however spook. She seems very nervous, I am thinking of putting some chamomile in her feed for a few wks and see if that helps...I hope. She is very twitchy too. Weird I have never had a horse that poops and twitches as much as her. Cant put her on any drugs...I dont want to get in trouble because I do want to show her soon. Maybe Sept and hunter pace in Aug. I think she will be fine as she is progressing VERY well.

Completly off topic..my son

I am a single mom, and its hard, I am solely responsible for all of his needs but, I have an amazing boyfriend who helps me raise him just not financially.

Well, we will call my sons father the "Donor". I left him when my son was 3 months old. Drove down to GA with $100 bucks my friend gave me.

So he has not tried to see our son in gosh ummm since I left him. And now...I get a phone call from his wife...(married same day we were divorced) saying that they want to see him. And take him NY....Oh lord! Has he lost his mind...

They want to just take him..to NY or back to NC. Everything in me says no. He has never taken care of Christian before...EVER. He has never been alone with my son. So no. So now we are battling it out!

I dont know what to do. I am so confused. Sadly we have no written agreement in the beginning but thank god we dont cause even then he wouldnt have tried to see him. Why now? He has been forced by the USMC in to AA forced into concelling marriage anger and parenting classes! He has shaken his 3yo step daughter...reported to the military...

I say no...will my son hate me, when he gets older?

My ride

The RIDE

As stated in the title, the ride went fabulous! Maybe I am just over joyed. No buck, no twitching but, there was a mounting issue which was over come when we had some one give the "rider" a leg up. Yep she was fabulous even took her over some cross rails. She moves off the leg and responds to your seat. We will have to work on her frame..which is fine, thats something easy to do. So on Tuesday I plan on riding her. She showed no signs that she wasnt ready. So the fun begins! Pics and mini video to come soon!

To ride or NOT to ride that is the question !?

That is the question! Ha ha, well I am sure we are going to. Long ago (funny it was really only 3 years ago!) I wouldnt question this I would just do it...my trainer called it GRIT...boy, have I lost that. I guess when you have a baby and your the only one they rely on it changes your outlook and your not as daring. OR maybe its because I will be honest I am out of shape. Wont know till tomarrow, yeah some people may think I got in over my head.

But, I love green horses and thats all I have ridden...

gosh I had a lesson a few wks ago on a non green horse...BORING. Besides that the instructor was TERRIBLE. I mean she didnt tell me anything I didnt know I needed to work on... on top of that I ride huntseat...and dressage, not whatever she was trying...i just remeber her saying get more contact in his mouth....that could mean many things. so I did what I thought i was suppose to do which was get him in fram...he was a QH so it was QH frame...I must not have been doing it write...oh well.

I went through my ribbons today! So many good memories...but, I am starting a new venture..no more quarter horses all though I must say...i will miss them but maybe i can find someone to let me show there QH after all that is where my heart lies!

Back to the RIDE:

The girl who is going to ride her first is fearless, her and her mom break and train horses to jump grand prix level...So she will be first batter up...then me. After I feel comfortable. Which I am usually GUNG ho after I see how the horse reacts the first time I can asses how I am going to ride...thats how I rode when I was pregnant yep I did ride bucking horses in my first and second month...it went well just went with the flow and did it well. But its always easier to ride a horse like that when you have a trainer you trust. Anyone know of any affordable trainers in the GA area? I am trying but GEEZE some charge ridiculous amounts of money! I am sure there good, if not I will just take videos and send them to my old trainer after all she knows me best!

Well wish us luck and any advice for the first ride greatly appreciated..Will try to post video so you can laugh so hard youll cry or just say what are they thinkin...which is what I prefer after all thats what I have always gotten :)

Break Through

YEAH! It took me 5 min from the time I got to the barn to catch her yesterday! And we lunged she did however challenge me at that one. I figured her out. It is in fact a bit of a game. She hasnt yet decided if I should be in charge but, I fixed that when I got her to lunge...that was interesting. She is very good at trying to keep me infront of her shoulder but I got her to do what I wanted and that was the end of the lungeing. So we retreated and went for a groom. Silly bellini. I suppose we are going to try and ride this weekend...wish us luck and post pictures soon!

Getting Better

So she is TAD bit of a challenge afte all its been 6 yrs since I have had trouble catching a horse... But she lost her halter...dont know how but its GONE! So I had to catch her with a leadline...its getting easier. I found an old halter and put it on her, with NO problems. It was amazing. we walked I attempted to lunge her but she is sneaky and knows exactly how to get out of it. Hmmph.. So I groomed her and loved on her. Went to let her back out of the pasture took halter and lead line off and she just stood there and let me rub on her and love on her! So after a few minutes I told her she could go and she looked at me and walked away looking behind her as if to say "are you sure". What a good ending to that day!

Trust Me

Bellini, she got her halter off yesterday playing with Benny he is a cute skiddish Andalusian. He is more skiddish than Bellini only you can catch him.

I was able to get her into a stall (thank goodness its a turnout stall) where I proceeded to get her halter on. She was scared, I dont understand why. So i got some grain and me and the barn lady went in I had the halter she had the grain. Bellini trust me more the barn lady but, she ate the grain and I was able to put her halter on and she was FINE! I praised her and walked her out.

We walked down to the arena, I put the lunge line on her thinking of proceeding to lunge her then...I changed my mind. So here I went just walking her around rubbing on her spending time with her. She lowered her head into my chest as I scratched her...I looked into her eyes...

They were so gentle...but she just looked worried, as if I will be here one day and gone another. I told her "your not going anywhere" she isnt. She is so wonderful besides the fact that she is difficult to catch. In time she will soon just walk up to me and let me catch her. Not yet.

I decided to see if my saddle fit. She twitched a bit...then settled right down. It doesnt so I am going to clean it up and sell it. Besides I am thinking of investing in a decent dressage saddle. I will be going to some hunter shows, in a dressage saddle, she is green and will need the mileage. Next year I would LOVE to some recognized shows. But not yet. She needs to trust me and I need to make it fun for her.

Thats all I have for now, if anyone has any advice on tips for me catching my Sweet Green Bellini, please let me know!

Sneaky Bellini

Sneaky Mare, Not fond of being caught there she is eating the weeping willow! She eats anything that smells good and is green. She is playing tag..for an hour. I dont know why she just wont let me catch her. She gives me this look, and its actually kinda cute. I love her already and she is trying to make it challenging. Little does she know I have been down this road before!

The amazing LEGENDS Sweet Feed. Thats how I caught her the first time. I actually had to step out of the fence and it was so simple, she reached and ate and I clipped. She didnt even freak just looked at me as if to say "hey you tricked me!"

More pictures and a post hopefully tomarrow evening. I have to go work at Mac Greasy tonight :) get to work (hopefully if we are busy) rather than sit at a desk and file paperwork...
Wish me luck tomarrow and hopefully she will be easier to catch.
BTW I am in love.
